I know I have said it before...
but, I love the architecture up north...
This is the Castle. The Smithsonian Institution Building.
Happy Travel Tuesday!
From my most recent mini-travels...
Daytona Beach, FL
I just love sunrises... It is one of my most favorite beach time activities... something about watching a new day begin...
So peaceful...
Happy Travel Tuesday
One thing that I truly love about the city is the lights at night... I wish I had more of these night lights around here :)
Baltimore at night, February 2012
In February, I was able to visit DC for the first time. We were in Baltimore for a week and one day we made it down to DC. We roamed around DC on a chilly, drizzly day. We pretty much had the monuments to ourselves. The memorials were amazing, but only one brought me to tears.
I am only 26, so I have only studied about the Korean and Vietnam Wars. This trip was the first time I actually got the vastness of the Vietnam War. The feeling when you see this memorial is indiscernible. 58,209 American names inscribed in marble.
We just walked along side it slowly, taking it all in. I gently ran my fingers along the names as I passed, thinking about all that loss of life...
It wasn't until I was this
that I began to tear up. I stopped for a few moments to let the tears flow. Then, like all photographers, I pulled out my camera. I wanted to capture that moment, that feeling.
Thank you to all who serve.
In continuing with my "all that is gold does not glitter theme" today's Travel Tuesday feature Saint Olof's Church ruins in Sigtuna, Sweden.
One thing that I am most upset about living in Florida is the lack of awesome architecture.
Yes, we do have plenty of lovely architectural styles... but the styles in my area of Florida are
so common that it is not exciting anymore. I want some Gothic Revival! Roman Revival! Something, that I studied in my humanities classes would be nice :D
Anyway, one of the things I love most about travel is all the different styles of architecture I can find.
I was so very excited when we stumbled upon this church while traipsing around Baltimore.
This Neo-Gothic church made my heart jump. I just love the intricate details and the bold color of the doors.
I believe this is the Mt. Vernon Place Methodist Church.
Beautiful...

I am a native Floridan. But, last summer was the first time that I had ever been to Miami. I drove through a couple years ago on my way to the Keys... but that was my first real visit.
I enjoyed my visit very much. Miami is such a different pace of life than what I am used to. One of my favorite parts of the trip was South Beach! It was so beautiful. But, I am a little biased... I would love the beach where ever I go.
